Just some pics

Nothing new, but just posting a few shots from around the property.
Pinot Noir grapes really do turn black before harvest!

Who is looking at whom?

The windbreak of trees to the south of us is in full, fiery color.

  1. Beautiful! So many colors in that first pic, with the grape leaves and clusters.

What kind are the windbreak trees? Such a variety of colors in those as well.

    1. I wish I knew, Christina! Being a Californian who grew up seeing a limited variety of trees around (pine, eucalyptus, oak) really left me with a deficit of knowledge about these new, deciduous ones. I see trees and plants around here all the time that are gorgeous and I have no idea what they are, because I didn't grow up learning about them! I need to make some Oregon friends with good plant ID skills haha.

  2. CA born and bred as well, and I felt the same way about my trip there with so much of the plant life unknown to me.

One funny one: along the river walk in Eugene I saw a tree with rather...unfortunate...galls on it -- they looked exactly like dog poop that someone had flung into the tree! So far no one has been able to ID it but everyone agrees what it *looks* like. So strange!

    1. Now I'm going to be on the lookout for dog-poop galls haha. I've only driven through Eugene, but the airport is fantastic for getting to CA. Really small and easy to use, plus direct flights (but not to SLO of course -- LAX and SFO).
