Winter is finished!

Well, maybe not the season, but the winter barn quilt is finished.  One down, three to go.  And they are actually much easier and more enjoyable to do than I'd anticipated. Each one is 4 feet by 4 feet, so it's not an overwhelming size to paint.

I'm ready to see some bright, new colors since winter is a bit drab, except for the dash of evergreen and the deep blue of a winter's sky.  Plus grey and white for clouds and fog, of course.  So starting with spring's quilt next week, COLOR will be the word of the day!

  1. I, for one, can't wait to see this finished. I have mentioned to my husband what you are doing & he just can't seem to grasp the concept. I have 2 barn ends to do & I can't wait to see what your's looks like!

    1. Thanks, I'm excited to see them finished and mounted as well. Barn/shop walls are just so bare without something on them, whoever started this tradition knew what they were doing, in my opinion!

  2. Now I want a blue and white quilt! Looks great and I really like the colors you chose. Glad it's an enjoyable project. It's nice when a creative pursuit turns out to be easy and pleasurable. I would have thought this would be hard with taping off, peeling before it gets too dry, taping on fresh paint, etc. I'm in a bit of a creative slump right now. I blame the dieting. Can't wait to see more of this project!

    1. The taping is not difficult; I just follow the gridlines I drew and don't do more than one color a day to minimize the risk of working around the newly painted surfaces. I think all creative people go through waves and troughs with our creative energies, I am sure yours will come back once you see something you love that could work in your home or life and inspires you! Plus you are creative at your job all day long, so don't forget that!

  3. Just beautiful!

Winter is just getting started in the Midwest though. We probably won't see much of the sun until April!

    1. That is one reason I'm looking forward to the spring quilt...it's a way to bring spring into my life a little early. We'll get blossoms in late February, but can't be assured of the last freeze until Mother's Day.
